We got possession of our new house last week! One of my first projects was scraping dirty caulk off a toilet. Home ownership is so glamorous!
I cannot even explain the hilarity that is our life right now living in a renovation. OMG. Hilarious.
I don’t even know if I would really call it a renovation though, because we aren’t really changing much structurally. It’s mostly sweat equity stuff…scraping popcorn ceilings, tearing out flooring, painting literally everything, vacuuming vacant wasp nests out of windows. You know, the norm.
When our inspector walked through before we officially purchased the house, he called it an “aesthetic flip”. Sweet music to my ears! But even after just one week of tearing things up, we’ve hit some major curveballs in our plans. Before sharing our progress (still feels like we haven’t made a DENT), I’d like to share where we started.
Welcome to our fixer upper!

I like to refer to this as the “plastic spoon chandelier”….
Our master has a fireplace. I don’t even know what to do with this kind of luxury!!
Hall bath and more bedrooms.
There’s some beautiful features in this house, and some not-so-pretty too. We have a lot of work ahead of us! I’ll do my best to give updates here when I’m not covered in dust or dripping in sweat!
